Worship & Music
At the heart of our life together is our Sunday worship at 11 a.m. Our service is a blended service including familiar old time favorite hymns and new songs of worship and praise. Voices sing in praise of God accompanied by piano, and sometimes by organ, guitar, flute or other instruments. Skits or short film projections on the screen occasionally enrich our worship. Adults, teens and children join in the leadership of the service.
Our choir meets monthly and sings an anthem in worship monthly. A Sunday school class choir sings once a month as well.
Dress is up to the individual in the congregation, with some dressing more casually, some dressing more formally.
Our worship includes hymns and songs, readings from Holy Scripture, a sermon, prayers of joy and concern lifted up by the community. Church members sometimes share their own insights into the connection between Christian faith and life. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month, and all are welcome at the Lord’s Table.
From time to time we welcome special guests who help to lead our worship or programs. This may include young people from the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, the Community Outreach Program and the Mt. Pleasant School second graders who offer a wonderful annual program for everyone in the community, including the senior citizens. We celebrate Christmas Eve with a candlelight service. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, on Ash Wednesday, on Maundy Thursday and at Easter dawn we join for worship with other churches of various denominations in the area. We have a glorious Easter celebration of the Resurrection.
If you are interested in Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage or Membership, or if you would like a time of prayer and reflection, please contact Rev. Liz Mortlock (427-3064).
I was glad when they said, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” (Psalm 122: 1)
